Sullivan Humidaire

The ResMed Sullivan HumidAire was designed to treat obstructive sleep apnoea by delivering humidified air at positive pressure throughout the night. Its compact form, intuitive controls, and clean layout made it simple to set up and unobtrusive in the bedroom environment, while the water chamber and airflow path were engineered for reliability and ease of maintenance. By alleviating the discomfort caused by dry air, it provided a more comfortable treatment experience that improved patient compliance and sleep quality. The HumidAire received the Australian Design Award for Industrial Design and was selected for the Powerhouse Museum collection, recognising its innovative approach in medical equipment design.
